Modules on-line

We are in the process of restructuring our program during this year. The majority of will be on-line training and there will be only 1 travel module in which students will need to attend. This Module 2 will take place in various parts of the country and the world. This change is planned to go into effect later in 2010.

TO PREPARE

1. Please begin by studying the Creative Harping DVD series
To complete the IHTP, students are required to study all 10 DVDs.
We require the first 6 DVDs before entering Module 2. It takes about 1 month on each of the DVDs.
After the month of study, you send a 4-5 minute recording of 1 song from the DVD that eases into an improvisation based on the same rhythm.
We look for at least 2 left hand patterns. If you have applied to the program, you will receive evaluations after each of the submissions so that you know that you are on track.

2.  Illuminations Healing Music Book/CD - contains 25 tunes that are arranged in 3 different levels. Follow this link and you will find the listing of the 6 tunes that are required for graduation. You can also begin working on these while we are in our restructuring phase.

3.  Thirdly, there is a reading list of required books. You can begin on these as well. We require a paragraph or two stating how the contents of the book will help you as a Therapeutic Harp Practitioner.

Finally, if you are a new beginning harp player:  we have in the past taken people with little or no harp training (our Track 1) into the program but the students have felt a bit overwhelmed by the time they get to classes.  During this year of reconstruction of the program, beginners who are interested in joining the program will be asked to work with a teacher via SKYPE lessons (one of our graduates) and complete the first 6 Creative Harping DVDs.  Students will also learn basic theory and the basics of playing the harp with your teacher so they are best prepared to gain the full benefit of the program's offerings.  After the songs and simple improvisations are learned from the first 6 DVDs in the series, then the teacher will make a recommendation for the student to enter the program.

SKYPE TEACHERS

At the moment, I have two IHTP SKYPE teachers (see links below) to recommend to you.  You may want to contact them and ask them questions - find out prices (this is a cost on your own).  But this will be a good way for you to prepare and to be ready when the program begins again in 2010.
